In order to make use of Facebook, the first step is to create a Facebook account.

This can be carried out from the main homepage ( www.facebook.com ) or from within the dedicated mobile app, which is available for Android and iOS devices.

The main sign up form is present on the homepage, under the heading ‘Create a New Account’.

You can also go directly to Facebook’s dedicated Sign Up page, but it basically has the same form as the homepage

On this form, you will need to enter the following information:

• Your Name
• Your Mobile Number or Email Address
• Your Password
• Your Date of Birth
• Your Gender

You must use a valid email address or mobile phone number, as you will need to use whichever of these you provide to verify your account creation. If you opt to use a mobile number and you receive an error message when signing up, make sure you have included the area code for your country. If it still fails, use an email address instead.

Please note, that your Facebook password must be atleast 6 characters long.

Once you have entered all of this information, click on the ‘Create Account’ button and follow the instructions to complete the sign up process and create your new account.

It is worth noting that Facebook is completely free to join, but you must be at least 13 years old in order to create a Facebook account and use the platform. This minimum age is now standardised for most users around the world, but may vary in some countries.

Can I Create more than one Facebook Account?

Facebook doesn’t allow users to have two or more personal accounts, as it is against their Terms of Service. If they find out that you have two personal accounts, they can shut them down.

This is how you do it:

Step 1:

Register a new email address, if you have only one. Use Gmail, Hotmail (hotmail.com)  or Mail.com. I find that Mail.com  is the easiest one to use, as it will take only a few minutes to sign up.

Step 2:

Open your browser and open an “Incognito” session. All browsers have an Incognito or Private Tab. Go to settings in your browser and find the “New Private Window” or “Incoqnito Mode” or similar.

Step 3:

Visit the Facebook homepage (www.facebook.com) and fill in the sign-up form. Enter your new email address which has not yet been used to register for a previous Facebook account, then your first and last name, a password, your gender and your birthdate. Don’t fill out the mobile phone number!

You can make any variation of your name, if you want, or make up a completely new name. However, I recommend to use a variation of your name, or an abbreviation, because if you get locked out of your account, Facebook may ask for a photo id to activate your account again. You cannot have just 1 letter in your First or Last name, though, so “A Smith” will not work, but “Ann Smith” or A@ Smith will. Also, take note of the birthdate and year, that you use to sign up, as Facebook will also ask for that, if you get locked out.

Step 4:

Click on the green “Sign up” button below the form. Your new Facebook us account ready.

Facebook will send you a confirmation email  to your email account, which you will need to click to activate your new Facebook Account.

Fill out all the fields highlighted here in red. Do not enter a mobile phone number.

Facebook login help, tips and solutions to common Facebook Sign In problems.

Facebook is an online social network, which was originally launched by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. The service began life as a platform for Harvard students, but its membership gradually grew to include other academic institutions. Since 2006, the site has been open to the public and anyone over the age of 13 can create an account.

Today, Facebook is the most popular social network site in the world, boasting more than two billion active monthly users. These users are able to add friends, share photos and status updates, comment on other people’s posts, contact businesses, watch and share videos, play games, buy and sell products, and more. Facebook is available on desktop, laptop, mobile and tablet devices and also includes its own instant messenger service.

How Do I Sign Up For a Facebook Account?

How Do I Log In to My Facebook Account?

After you have created your account, the Facebook login procedure is straight forward. Again, this can be carried out from the main website, or from the mobile app. When you load the homepage, or start the app, you will see a login form on the page.

A Mobile-Optimized Facebook Login page can be found at m.facebook.com/login.

Regardless of the method you opt for, the login form will ask you to supply either your mobile number or email address and your password. These must be entered exactly as you entered them during the sign up. Remember, the password is case sensitive, so make sure CAPS LOCK is off and pay attention to upper and lower case letters.

Locate the login boxes in the top right hand corner of the official Facebook.com Homepage, and enter your credentials to log in.

I Have Forgotten My Facebook Password.

If you have forgotten your password, the site has a built-in password reset function. This can be accessed by clicking on the ‘Forgotten Account?’ link, which appears underneath the main login form.

You will need to enter your email address or mobile number, find your account and then follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password.

If you still cannot sign in to your Facebook account, then you should:

• First, check that your internet connection or WIFI connection is active and working. Often, WIFI connections in public places require you to connect through a unique start page.
• Check that the Facebook server is UP by visiting: www.isitdownrightnow.com/facebook.com.html.
• Try to sign in from another mobile device or laptop and see if that resolves the issue.
• Try to sign in with another internet browser, e.g Chrome, Mozilla or Internet Explorer.
• Try an alternative Facebook Login page like https://mtouch.facebook.com/login/ or https://m.facebook.com/login/.
• Delete your internet browser data, cache and cookies, close the web browser, open it and then try again.
• Temporarily disable all add-ons, plugins, anti-virus and anti-malware and ad-blocker programs that may interfere with the sign in process.
